About Us

The Nigerian Society of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, NSBMB has been in existance for the past fourty five (45) years initially as "Biochemical Society of Nigeria" and then changed to the present name to include colleagues in the sister field of molecular biology.

The Society was established with the overall objectives of promoting education, research and development in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for the benefits of Nigeria and the African continent...

Objects

In furtherance of this objective, the society:

• Develops networks of collaborative research in biochemistry and molecular biology among institutions in Nigeria and between them and other institutions in Africa and the rest of the world.
• Disseminates information on biochemistry and molecular biology among its members both within and outside Nigeria.
• Organize seminars, symposia and conferences in order to promote the knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology among its members.
• Contributes towards capacity building in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology by organizing short courses; identifying funding opportunities for postgraduate training; and assisting Nigerian institutions in developing curricula for the teaching of biochemistry and molecular biology.
• Established and maintains contacts with organizations with similar objectives such as federation of African Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (FASBMB), Federation of European Biochemistry Societies (FEBS), Federation of Asian and Oceanic Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB), Pan American Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PAABMB) and International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB).
